Product Feature: ILVE’s Wine Cellar Collection

645 BIWS24 Model

ILVE is making the good times roll this festive season, with its full Wine Cellar and Beverage Centre collection, created in collaboration with Vintec.

Each piece in ILVE’s Wine Cellar collection is undoubtedly a perfect addition to a busy kitchen when entertaining over the festive season.

The four-piece range, which consists of a single zone wine cellar, a dual zone wine cellar and a beverage centre to accompany the built-in wine cellar, promises that your beloved bottles of wine will never spoil again.

Designed with ILVE’s sleek signature aesthetic in mind, the four products allow wine and other beverages to be stored at optimum temperature and humidity settings to ensure their finest quality is maintained.

As the name suggests, the single zone wine cellar enables the storage of up to 40 Bordeaux bottles at a single temperature (between 12 and 16 degrees) and humidity of approximately 70 per cent.

The dual zone wine cellar allows for greater flexibility in the storage of wine, with a temperature zone that can be set between six and 22 degrees, meaning you can simultaneously create the perfect storage environment for both reds and whites.

Summer, and especially the festive season, provide ample opportunity for entertaining, so now is the time to invest in extra wine and beverage storage for your home. With Christmas just around the corner, ILVE’s cellar range presents fantastic gift ideas for budding sommeliers in the family – providing a home for an expanding wine collection.

Trend Watch: Open Season

If you’ve been paying attention to kitchen design, you’ll know there’s one trend that everyone has an opinion on. Let’s talk about open shelving.

Open shelving has been a controversial style circulating for a couple of years, peaking in 2014 when the aesthetic made a splash in design magazines and blogs alike. The trend continues to be popular, and for good reason. With different functions from kitchen-to- kitchen, there’s a lot of versatility when it comes to this look.

While still big fans of sleek cabinetry and concealed kitchen storage, we’re on Team Open Shelf for the aesthetic win. Here are the pros and cons of this style, and how to make the look work for you, through the good and the bad:

Firstly, let’s talk about the contentious nature of having open shelving in your home. As this earthy space demonstrates, the primary downside to open shelving is, of course, the issue of hygiene – the risk of dust and pesky pests hanging around your display is increased. While this may be the biggest deterrent for consumers considering installing open shelves in their kitchens, the issue is easily fixed with a simple clean and a little extra tender loving care.

There are many perks that come with open shelving, particularly regarding the increased storage options and the opportunity to show off art and your cutest kitchen knick-knacks. This kitchen’s owners have made their open storage space a feature wall, displaying functional items like plates, bowls and cups, as well as distinctive accessories like vases and sculptures.

Not as prominent as the all-white storage wall, but still packing a punch, these colourful shelves are bound to give a kitchen some serious personality. Probably less for utility and installed more for beauty, this kind of shelving is sure to bring out your artistic side.

For us, when it comes to decking out the shelves, our favourite thing to adorn open shelving is a beautiful, shiny appliance!

Product Feature: Induction Cookers

induction pic 1

ILVE has been hand-building beautiful cookers in Italy for more than 50 years. Each cooker is made by craftsmen using only the finest materials, incorporating innovative designs borne from ILVE’s continuous research into the art of cooking.

With an international reputation for being the brand of choice for those passionate about cooking, IVLE offers stunning designs in range cookers, ovens and hobs, as well as the latest in technology and functionality. Offering a variety of both induction built-in cooktops and freestanding cookers, we’re at the forefront of design and style.

Why choose an induction cooker?

While gas cooking may be the tradition, induction cook tops have become increasingly popular for a variety of reasons. They are just as easy to control as traditional gas cookers, but are much faster to heat, saving valuable preparation time.

Another benefit is their extreme ease of cleaning. There are no elements underneath the glass top, so any spills on the surface can be simply wiped down. Traditional gas tops often require dismantling for a deep clean, a departure from the hygienic, streamlined nature of induction.

induction pic 2

Induction cooking is also much more energy efficient and better for the environment, using 90 per cent of the energy produced compared to only 55 per cent for a gas burner, and 65 per cent for traditional electric ranges. Boasting a number of different safety features, such as child lock, no naked flames and the ability to automatically turn off when cookware is removed, ILVE’s induction cookers are the perfect addition to any kitchen.
How does induction actually work?

A copper coil sits underneath the tempered glass, and when it comes
into contact with stainless steel, or anything that has iron or ferrous in it, it creates magnetic energy, which then transfers into heat. Check out the handy diagram below for more information.

Top tips for using induction technology

-Cookware must be compatible with induction heating, therefore it needs a magnetic base. This is because induction technology uses magnetic fields that transfer the cooking energy to the base of your cookware.

-When preparing a meal, it should be taken into consideration that induction cookers heat up much quicker than traditional cookers, which makes boiling water and cooking much faster then normal.

Safety features

-If you happen to over boil a saucepan or pot, or if the cooktop reaches a dangerous temperature, the cooktop will automatically shut down to prevent any harm on itself or the kitchen.

-ILVE’s induction cooktops are also fitted with a clever spill-detection device. If any liquid boils over, the cooktop is able to detect the spill, turn off and beep to alert the user.

The ILVE Induction Cooktop Range

induction pic 4

The pan-detection technology, specific to ILVE, will find the precise cooking zone the user is cooking on, and then adjust the temperature accordingly. Five seconds after the cooking temperature is activated the cooktop will
go into lock mode to prevent an accidental change in temperature.

To adjust the temperature, or to activate another zone, the user simply needs to touch the button on the desired zone to modify.

Daniel Bertuccio, Eurolinx Marketing Manger, states, “As cooking time becomes more precious than ever, we have noticed a surge in interest from our customers. I also think as people become more aware of the environmental benefits compared to traditional methods, induction cooktops will continue to increase in popularity.”

ILVE induction cooktops also have a booster option, which means large quantities of water can be brought to the boil super quickly, with more power to an individual zone. With a total of six built-in cooktops and three freestanding cookers featuring induction technology, the ILVE range has something to suit every kitchen.

Trend Watch – All About That Brass

Brass is coming back in a big way in 2015! Here is how to incorporate this craze into your home.

Trends this year have been all about bringing vintage charm back into the kitchen, and we love seeing the comeback of a classic accent: brass. A metallic rich in kitchen history, it’s hard to believe brass hasn’t made a major comeback already!

With its lived-in and earthy look, brass is the perfect grounding accompaniment to too-sleek kitchens, or homes that need a little extra pizzazz.  Below, we’ve rounded up some great examples of brass in the home for some inspiration.

Subtly harking back to another era, this tap is a functional and chic way to add a splash of brass to the kitchen.  The vintage element of the tap’s design also lends a sense of timeless cool, giving this kitchen serious style.

To glitz-up a pure and minimal look, brass edging is a striking way to outline a kitchen’s silhouette. With other on-trend features included, like the ordered open shelving and industrial lighting, this look is thoroughly modern.

While this space has blended these trends successfully, take care to ensure there’s a balance between industrial touches and contemporary accessories when incorporating brass into your home. The vintage status of brass can tip into unpolished territory if additional aesthetics are a little too old-fashioned!

Moody glamour is the name of the game for this kitchen, in a home recently sold by actress Cameron Diaz. These emerald cabinets make for an eclectic match with the heavy brass in this kitchen, but the streamlined architecture keeps it from looking disjointed.

With a brass this deep in tone, you can either allow the metallic to be the prominent feature, or find a look to match its vivacity. This home has definitely taken the flashier route, but with a dash of individuality, it’s pulling it off with confidence.

Not for the faint of heart, here’s a look that’s even bolder! This maximalist kitchen has really turned up the brass, from the bar stools to the lighting. Bright, brave and right on-trend, this is a look that’ll definitely leave an impression.

So, if you’ve been enticed to add a sophisticated touch of brass to your home, we’ve got just the kitchen essential for you!

Not only does the ILVE Nostalgie Double Electric Oven have 11+5 multifunction cooking modes, a Dual Rotisserie and a Catalytic self-cleaning system, it also comes with the option of gorgeous brass fittings. Seen above on a Matt Black model, there are seven further oven colours to choose from to complement the brass.

Brass is no longer a dirty word when it comes to interior design, so why not indulge?

The ILVE Story

history of ilve

Ever wondered how one of Italy’s premier appliance brands got its start in Australia? Look no further!

The story of ILVE begins in 1952. Founded in Campodarsego, near Venice, the business was dreamed up by two visionary friends, Mr Illotti and Mr Berno. With their passion for food and their collective manufacturing skills, the brand’s ethos was simple: develop commercial-quality cookers for local restaurants as a way of indulging their passion for fine food.

When it came to naming the brand, rather than use a family name to identify the heritage of the business, the title of ILVE is instead a simple Italian acronym: I – Industria, L – Lavorazione, V – Veneta ,E – Elettrodomestici. This translates in English to ‘Industrial standard electrical appliances made in Venice.’

As ILVE grew in popularity, Messrs Illotti and Berno moved on from solely producing commercial cookers, officially introducing domestic cookers to Europe in 1965. From there, ILVE continued to make its mark as a luxury appliance brand in both homes and businesses.

After 29 years in charge, the time came for Illotti and Berno to pass ownership of the business onto their sons, a change that took place in 1983. In fact, the sons of the two pioneers still run the company today, maintaining ILVE’s 100 per cent family-owned status.

A mere year after the business was passed down from fathers to sons, ILVE arrived on our shores, introducing a unique European style and unrivalled level of quality to Australian homes for the first time.

ILVE’s innovative spirit has only strengthened since it became available in the Australian market, with the years that followed bringing with them a series of exciting developments for oven models – culminating in all ILVE electric ovens earning European Energy “A Class” ratings.

From 1952 until now, ILVE’s dedication to quality appliances and service has never ceased. We welcome you to join us on our journey as we continue to evolve.

ILVE Majestic Cooker in Antique White featuring a Tepanyaki Plate

Foodies and fans of Japanese cuisine, rejoice! With ILVE’s Tepanyaki Plate, you can turn your kitchen into an authentic Japanese dining experience.

No longer a humble kitchen appliance, the oven has become a beloved feature in the kitchen of any ardent home cook. With passion and expertise, ILVE is dedicated to bringing revolutionary and thoroughly modern touches to their range of ovens. ILVE’s Tepanyaki Plate is a perfect exemplification of this mission.

Introduced in 2008, the Tepanyaki Plate is an oven-top feature dedicated to delivering Japanese-style cooking in the home. The beauty of this kitchen masterpiece is the diversity, ease and healthy way in which it can cook all your favourite dishes.

The idea for the Tepanyaki Plate was conceived by the designers from the ILVE factory while on a business trip in Sydney. While being entertained at a local Tepanyaki restaurant, the designers were impressed and inspired by the innovative cooking style. Legend has it that the plans for the first domestic Tepanyaki designs were drawn up on an airline napkin on the flight back to Italy!

Naturally, the range features ILVE’s renowned handcrafted commercial quality, bringing an authentic touch of Italy, and now Japan, to any Australian kitchen.

Introducing ILVE’s 76cm Pyrolytic Electric Oven

76cm oven image

At ILVE, we’re known for our impressive collection of top-of-the-line products. We’re continuing this proud legacy by expanding our built-in appliance range with the release of the larger 76cm Pyrolytic Electric Oven. User-friendly and technologically advanced, this model is a perfect addition to any home!

The features of the 76cm Pyrolytic Electric Oven include a spatial capacity of 123L, giving you enough room to whip up any culinary delights you may desire. The double fan with heating elements also provides superior heat distribution in the generous oven space, creating a lack of oven ‘hot spots’ and generating ideal, multi-level cooking each time you use the oven.

Further taking advantage of the model’s substantial room, the full-cavity width grill utilises a heat reflecting surface that allows for the grilling of an oven that’s full of food. With six possible grill positions and 13 different oven functions, the 76cm Pyrolytic Electric Oven has got your culinary needs covered, from pizza to homemade bread. But it gets better: the low energy consumption of the 76cm Pyrolytic Electric Oven means you can cook practically guilt-free!

While the cooking functions of an oven are vital, the cleaning of the appliance is of the utmost importance as well. One of the most distinctive features of the oven is the pyrolytic cleaning function. For quick cleaning, simply set the pyrolytic cycle at the end of cooking. This function raises the oven’s temperature to 475°C, which incinerates any food residue on the oven walls. At the end of the cycle, just wipe the
oven’s walls with a damp cloth to eliminate any remains.

For easy cooking and even easier cleaning, say goodbye to heavy chemicals with harsh odours, and say hello to pyrolytic!

ILVE’s ILCO7613P 76cm Pyrolytic Electric Oven has an RRP of $4,999. For more info, visit

Renovations Celebration

What better way to show off a renovation than with a celebration? To commemorate our recently refurbished Brisbane Showroom, we invited a select group of local journalists, interior designers and architects for an exclusive walk-through of our new space.

For a special reveal of our Showroom, we asked Brisbane-based media and industry professionals to view the new space, as well as check out our extensive array of ILVE products on display.

As well as showing off our new look, our guests were also treated to a retelling of ILVE’s history as a brand. Queensland’s State Manager, Mark Tebbutt, was on-hand to answer questions with his expert knowledge of all things ILVE, and he certainly didn’t disappoint.

To top off the afternoon, attendees were also treated to a product demonstration in the Showroom’s working kitchen. Our in-house home economist Steve Marsh whipped up lunch in an ILVE oven, serving up a delicious spread of roasted meats, salads, fresh seafood, hearty pasta, sweet desserts and plenty of wine.

The fun had to end sometime though, and to make the afternoon even sweeter, our guests were gifted with ILVE goodie bags, with extensive product information and a DVD featuring recipes by Giovanni Pilu.

With a walk-through this fun, we think we should renovate our showrooms more often!
